Restorative Dentistry for Kids in Clear Lake

Restorative dentistry repairs teeth that decay or injury has damaged — fillings for smaller cavities, crowns when a tooth needs full protection. Dr. Jason Brock, a board-certified pediatric dentist, restores kids’ teeth in Clear Lake so eating, sleeping, and smiling can get back to normal.

What Restorative Dental Care Covers

Restorative care is how we fix teeth that already have a problem — a cavity that’s broken through the enamel, a tooth chipped on the trampoline, decay that’s gone deeper than a toothbrush can help. The goal is simple: stop the damage, rebuild the tooth, and get your child chewing and smiling comfortably again.

For most kids that means one of two things. Smaller cavities are repaired with tooth-colored fillings that blend right in. Teeth with more extensive damage get crowns, which cover and protect the whole tooth. Which one your child needs comes down to how much healthy tooth is left — and we’ll show you exactly what we see before anything is decided.

The Right Fix, Not the Biggest One

Our rule is proportion. A tooth gets the smallest repair that will genuinely hold up — nothing more. Some early decay doesn't need drilling at all and can be stopped with silver diamine fluoride instead. Deep decay near the nerve has a rescue path too — pulp treatment that clears the trouble and keeps the tooth. And on the rare occasion a tooth truly can't be saved, we'll say so plainly and talk through a gentle extraction as the last resort, not the first.

You'll see the X-ray yourself, hear the reasoning in plain English, and make the call with the full picture in front of you. That's how it works here, every time.

Broken Tooth Today? Here’s How That Works

When a tooth breaks or starts hurting, speed matters — so we prioritize same-day appointments for urgent damage. Getting your child out of pain and the tooth protected comes first.

Here’s the honest part: a same-day visit doesn’t always mean a same-day repair. Some fixes are finished on the spot, and others are planned for a follow-up visit so they’re done properly. Either way, you’ll leave that first appointment knowing exactly what’s happening, what comes next, and when.

Told Your Child Has a Cavity?

Take a breath — cavities in kids are common, and they’re fixable. Bring your child in (or bring us the X-rays you already have), and we’ll explain what’s going on, what the options are, and what it’s likely to involve before anything is scheduled. Second opinions are welcome here, no hard feelings attached.

Our process

How We Repair a Tooth

Look and Listen

We start with a careful exam — and digital X-rays when they’re needed — then show you what we see and answer every question first.

Plan Together

Dr. Brock lays out the options for the tooth, from the most conservative up, and you’ll have an estimate before any treatment starts.

Comfort First

The tooth is numbed gently — our SOAN system delivers anesthetic slowly and steadily — we keep you informed, and sedation options are there for kids who need them.

Repair and Recheck

We complete the restoration, send you home with simple aftercare, and keep an eye on the repaired tooth at every checkup after.

FAQ

frequently asked questions

Because they're on the clock, not off it. Some baby molars stay in place until age 11 or 12, and a cavity won't wait that long. Untreated decay can cause real pain, spread toward the permanent tooth developing underneath, or turn into infection. Baby teeth also hold the space permanent teeth will need and handle years of chewing and speaking first. Repairing them protects all of that.
